I was sent a sample of the Simple brand cleansing facial wipes a few months ago. I requested the sample somewhere but it was so long ago now I can’t remember where that was!
The Simple line started in the UK back in 1960. The products are created for sensitive skin and do not use dyes or perfumes in the ingredients. Up until about 6 months ago, this brand was only available in the UK but is now available in Canada and the U.S.
As someone who has terribly sensitive skin, I have always been a little scared of trying new products on my face. Many friends I know use cleansing wipes at night and swear by them. Most of the wipes out on the market have a beautiful scent to them, but for my skin, this just isn’t an option!
The Simple brand wipes come in a few different formulations, the ones that I tried were the cleansing wipes. They are designed to remove waterproof mascara which is an added bonus. The wipes have a very faint fresh smell to them. After using one, most of my make-up did come off, but I did use a second one to get rid of any residual make-up. My skin did not sting or feel tight afterwards, it just felt clean. I used my regular moisturizer when I was finished. After using the wipes for the duration of the week, I was hooked! My skin felt great and for the first time I did not develop any skin irritations from using a new product.
If you are looking for a wipe to use on sensitive skin, I highly recommend the Simple brand wipes.
DIY Orange Face Mask from “Food Plus Words”
Winter is quickly approaching. Because it has been a wee bit chilly outside, we have the heat on in our home. This unfotunately can lead to drier skin. I have been looking around for a moisturizing face mask for my skin. The problem is when I read the label I see all of these chemicals listed and I have no idea whether they are good or bad. All I know is that the skin is the largest organ on the body and whatever you are putting on it will certainly be absorbed into your blood stream. Oatmeal Face Scrub & Mask from “Green Earth Bazaar”
I started to look around on the web to see what I can find for more natural solutions. The plus side of this is they are also more frugal solutions too! I found some great sites and I can’t wait to share them with you! If you do try any of these, let me know how it goes. I am personally going to try the “Miracle Mask” tomorrow. Have a great Tuesday all 🙂
Just like everyone else, I have areas on my face that are too red or too dark…etc. I have tried different concealers on and off and have never really been happy with the result. I purchased L’Oreal Magic Lumi on sale and gave it a whirl!
This concealer goes on easily and blends well. I love the way it also doubles as a highlighter. I use it on the top of my cheekbones and on the bridge of my nose and lightly blend. It really brightens up my face! I also use it under the eyes. It doesn’t really take the darkness away, but it does make me look more awake. It never looks caked on and I have no issues with it settling in to any fine lines. For extreme redness or other skin issues, I do have to use a heavier product but I found using this in combination with my tinted BB cream is usually enough.
I found mine at Shoppers Drugmart (as usual!), unfortunately I can’t remember what I paid for it, but I do know it was reasonable.
How do you brighten your dark circles and cover redness? Do you have a favourite concealer?
The one item of make-up I wear every single day is mascara. I have been in and out of love with many different brands, but the one I keep going back to is Great Lash. So, I was browsing around for a new masacara and I came across Great Lash BIG mascara. They have revamped their line-up and now have many different formulas of the iconic Great Lash mascara.
The packaging looks realtively the same, bright pink tube and bright green lid. The brush is very different for the BIG formula. It is thick and big, just the way I like my mascara brushes to be!
Great Lash BIG mascara goes on without clumps and flakes. It does add a lot more volume then their original formula, but for a night out I still prefer to use something more dramatic such as Dior Show.
What is the one item from your make-up bag that you can’t live without?
It looks like the weather is going to be a bit of a challenge for most of Southern Ontario tonight. Stay dry and be safe 🙂
I purchased the Quo Fall Colour Palette about a month ago at Shoppers Drugmart. (I do a lot of my cosmetic and skincare shopping there) I was in need of some nice neutral colours and the bonus of this compact is that it also has a couple of colours in it that I hadn’t tried before. The price of this colour palette is phenomenal at $20.
The browns and the orangey/gold colour (in the bottom corner) go on fairly smooth. I do have to apply a few coats to really get the colour to pop. At this price I’m not complaining! The lighter gold colour at the top is not as blendable as the rest of the colours, but since I recently purchased a new eyeshadow brush at Joe Fresh, it seems to be going on a lot easier.
The case the eyeshadows and blush come in is absolutely gorgeous! In fact this was one of the reasons I was drawn to it in the first place. It feels and looks like snake skin and the surrounding case is an amber/brown colour.
The brushes that come in it are OK if you are on the go and forgot your own, but the colours do go on much better with the proper tools. As for, the blush, I am not a big fan since it does not have a lot of pigmentation to it, but it does give a nice sheen when worn with a separate colour you already own.
My favourite way to wear this palette is to start with the dark gold/orange colour in the inner corner of the eye and then take the dark green colour and blend it from the outer corner towards the centre of the eye. I then use the dark brown to underline my lower lash line and use my favourite black kohl eyeliner on the top of the eye. Check this product out if you are looking to update your eyeshadow collection for the fall season!
